Who we are

Mt. Zion Lodge No. 10, Free and Accepted Masons, is a cornerstone of the Masonic tradition in Batesville, Arkansas. Chartered in 1843, we are one of the oldest lodges in the state, with a history of fellowship, service, and leadership that spans generations. Our members are committed to the Masonic values of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth, and we strive to reflect these ideals in our daily lives and in the community we serve.

What is Freemasonry?

Freemasonry is the world’s oldest and largest fraternal organization. It brings together men of all backgrounds who share a commitment to moral and ethical living, personal development, and the betterment of society. Freemasonry is not a religion or a political group, but a fraternity that encourages its members to be upright citizens, caring neighbors, and lifelong learners.

A Shared Masonic Home

In addition to hosting the regular meetings of Mt. Zion Lodge No. 10, our building also serves as a gathering place for other Masonic-affiliated organizations:

  • York Rite Bodies – Offering further degrees in the Masonic tradition, exploring deeper philosophical and historical themes.

  • Order of the Eastern Star – A fraternal organization for women and Master Masons, focused on community service and charitable work.

  • International Order of the Rainbow for Girls – A youth organization for young women that fosters confidence, leadership, and moral values.

  • Order of DeMolay – A Masonic youth organization for young men that emphasizes responsibility, leadership, and character development.

A Tradition of Community and Legacy

For more than 175 years, Mt. Zion Lodge has been a part of the fabric of Batesville. From its founding during Arkansas’ early statehood to its role in building new lodges and supporting generations of local families, the lodge has stood as a symbol of continuity, trust, and quiet service.

Our doors have welcomed generations of Masons and hosted countless moments of reflection, learning, and fraternity. As part of the Grand Lodge of Arkansas, Mt. Zion Lodge continues to honor its past while looking toward the future.
